Lauren M. Wasilko, 28, of Portland, Maine died Tuesday, May 28th at home. She leaves her mother, Sharon A. Casillo; her sister, Elizabeth H. Wasilko both of Worcester; her paternal grandmother, Carol H. Smith of Webster; her paternal grandfather, Daniel Wasilko, Sr. of Auburn; her uncles, Anthony Casillo, Jr., who was also her godfather and his wife, Terri of Auburn, Stanley Casillo and his wife, Anne of Auburn; David Wasilko of Webster; her aunts, Heidi Smith of Dudley, and Seana Smith and her husband, Nicholas Bennett of New York; her godmother, Gloria Zemaitis of Florida and many cousins and extended family. She was predeceased by her father, Daniel "Skip" Wasilko, Jr.; her maternal grandparents, Anthony and Elizabeth Casillo; paternal grandfather, Bennett Smith, Jr.
She was born in Worcester and graduated from South High School and went on to further her education at Toni & Guy Hair Dressing. With her talent and passion for hairdressing, Lauren worked at several local salons before making the move to Portland, Maine in 2016. In addition to her successful career, Lauren pursued her passion for modeling. She was a model with Karon Shea Modeling and a member of the IMTA Modeling in New York City, where she left a lasting impression with her grace and poise. She was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church. Lauren worked for Maine Medical Center as a CNA in Cancer Care and IV Therapy for many years. She loved her patients and treated them like family.
Lauren’s love for animals was well-known among her family and friends. She had a special fondness for Boston Terriers and adored her cat, Lacey. Her interests were as diverse as they were deep. She was an avid movie and music lover who found joy in dancing. Her love for Portland, Maine was profound, and she cherished the sense of community that she found there. She made many friends who became like family to her, sharing countless memories and moments together.
Among her favorite places were the beaches she visited regularly. Old Silver Beach in Falmouth, Pelican Bay in Naples, FL, Back Cove and Eastern Promenade in Portland held special places in her heart. These spots were her sanctuaries, where she found peace and happiness. Lauren was a sweet soul with a courageous spirit and a kind heart. Her sense of humor was legendary, bringing joy and laughter to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to inspire and bring smiles to those who were fortunate enough to be part of her life. Laurens legacy of kindness, laughter, and love will live on in our heart forever.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 5th from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue followed by her funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made in Lauren’s name to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America, 72 River Park Street, #202, Needham, MA02494.
