BELLINGHAM - Rosemarie A. (Bourneuf) Demarais, 93, formerly of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 27th, surrounded by family at her home in Bellingham, MA.
Rose was born in Haverhill on July 6, 1930 to Ralph Bourneuf and Agnes Ambrose. Full of energy and always learning Rose worked as a Sales Representative for Ciba Giegy selling medical equipment, and retired from this company at the age of 70. True to herself, Rose worked at various other jobs, such as working at the desk at a dental office until she was 80. She never stopped moving forward and never stopped learning something new. Rose was an avid reader with a library of books including many on the history of the US as well as mysteries and crime novels. She was immensely proud of her French roots and read many books on the emigration of her family from France to Nova Scotia, finally settling in Haverhill. Growing up during the big band era, Rose was a lover of music and dancing. Her favorites include Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn which brought her many years of joy.
The family wishes to send thanks to the Tri Valley Elder Services, VNA & Hospice Center as well as Dana Farber Cancer Institute for their care and compassion as well as many neighbors who showed their love.
Rosemarie is survived by her son Stephen A. Demarais, his wife Claire and daughter Madeleine of Queen Creek, AZ, and her daughter Dianne M. Demarais and her husband Thomas J. Nardone of Wrentham. She also leaves behind her sister Kathleen Connor and her husband John, and nephews Christopher, Matthew and Andrew; as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son Darren M. Demarais.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, June 2 from 2PM until 4PM at the Oteri Funeral Home, 33 Cottage Street, Franklin, MA; and on Monday, June 3 from 9:30AM until 10:30AM at the Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday June 3 at 11AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 114 Lincoln Ave., Haverhill. Burial will follow at St. James Cemetery, 360 Primrose Street, Haverhill.
