James R. Mello, 95 of Fall River, Massachusetts passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family and his amazing wife of 60+ years Alice Mello on May 29, 2024.
James was a man who loved working with his hands, and understood the true craftsmanship of woodworking, he had an eye for attention to detail when it came to crafting. James served courageously in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and proudly stood up for what is right.
He had many past times, but he was quite fond of watching his TV show Grit, or he could be found trying his luck at Foxwoods casino with his best friend and love of his life Alice. Although James was never lucky at the casino he had always felt like a winner as long as he had Alice by his side.
James could be described as an amazing husband, who always knew that his wife was correct, he was a calm, quiet, gentle soul and his wife’s biggest protector, and he was well known for saying “you’re always right” to Alice who he affectionately always called “my baby”
James leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and memories behind with his wife of 60 plus years Alice (Bouchard) Mello, his Godson Steven Bouchard who was like a son to him and his son Stevie Bouchard of Somerset and Branden Bouchard of Somerset who were grandsons to James, his nephew Ronnie Bouchard of Florida, and many other nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased in life by his parents Antonio and Margarida (Rego) Mello, his two brothers Manuel Mello, Antone Mello, and his three sisters Mary Miranda, Alma Feijo, and Vangee Mello.
