Frank E. Green, age 85, died peacefully on May 20, 2024, at The Pavilion Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hyannis. He had been a resident of Centerville for many years. Born in Brockton, He was the son of the late Frank and Marie (Bragazzi) Green.
Frank was a proud graduate of Brockton High School, Stonehill College, and Boston College Law School.
Frank practiced Law for many years in the Barnstable area. He subsequently found his life’s passion serving young people, working as an athletic trainer for the Barnstable School system. In addition to dispensing ice and tape, Frank regularly offered wisdom and guidance in his role as trainer. It was a great source of pride and satisfaction to have served two generations of athletes from the same family. He was routinely approached wherever he went on the Cape and was embraced by former athletes whom he had assisted, each full of gratitude and respect for their former mentor.
Frank also served at different times in his life as an EMT/Fireman with the Centerville-Osterville Fire Department, as an assistant manager/trainer with the Cape Cod Baseball League, served on the Barnstable School Committee, the Board of Directors at the Centerville Public Library, and volunteered on the Centerville Civic Association.
Frank’s life was one of intellectual curiosity. He was a voracious reader, for years consuming three newspapers and four periodicals. This, in addition to always having at least three books at his side at all times. Frank relished any conversation on politics, news, history, and the like. He had a keen appreciation for humor. Closest to Frank’s heart was his devotion to his Catholic faith. He was a communicant at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville. He quietly helped countless individuals throughout his lifetime, a living exemplar of the biblical admonition that “faith without works is dead”.
Frank was blessed with a huge group of friends. They include The Echo community of Our Lady of Victory; Lifelong friends, the Denninger Family, the Grace Family, Atty. John Quigley, Atty. Jeffrey Johnson, Atty. George Ford and a close friend, Donna Clark Eagan and family. Frank relied on their assistance and guidance for many years.
The family would also like to recognize the nursing staff at The Pavilion for all loving care of Frank over these past few months.
Frank is survived by his cousin and wife, Peter and Jean Skelly of Wareham, and their children Justin Skelly of Onset and Courtney (Skelly) Napolitano, her husband Stephen, and children Brianna and Jackson of Plymouth.
At Frank’s request, there will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Victory on Thursday May 30th, 11AM followed by a reception at the parish hall.
