Delvin “Del” Sherwood Grindle, 76, of Bellingham died peacefully on May 25 in the Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence following a battle with dementia with his wife by his side. He was the husband of Irene D. (Sferrazza) Grindle for the past 55 years.
Born in Quincy, April 11, 1948, the son of the late Joseph and Rebecca (Tapley) Grindle, Del was raised in Dorchester and had lived in Bellingham since 1972.
Del had been a truck driver for many years for Local’s 25 and 170.
He enjoyed sailing, fishing, taking cruises, telling stories and vacationing.
Del was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it be friends, family or even a stranger. It didn’t matter what time of day, or what the issue was, you could always count on “Dependable Del.” He will be remembered for his kindness and genuine care for others.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters Stacey Mancuso and her husband Jeff of Bellingham and Renie Grindle and her husband Ryan Morse of North Smithfield, Rhode Island.
He is also survived by his grandchildren Michael DeSimone and his wife Abby, Jenna Moulton and her husband Greg, Kyle Dean, Hannah, Dorian, and Jackson Mancuso, Maxwell Carey and several great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Maureen DeSimone and grandfather of the late Brian DeSimone and Ryan Mancuso.
Del was the brother of the late Halton Grindle and Myrtle Crowley.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 1 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street, Medway at 10 :00 a.m.
Calling hours will be on Friday, May 31 from 4-7p.m. in the funeral home.
