NEW BEDFORD — George E. Owen Jr. of New Bedford, died Sunday, July 16, 2006, unexpectedly at home. He was the son of George E. Owen Sr. of Dartmouth and the late Angelina Puyana Owen.
A graduate of Dartmouth High School class of 1969, he attended Bridgewater State College for a short time before attending and graduating from Rhode Island Trade School. He worked for a number of years at Davis and Tripp in Padanaram before running his own Snap-an-Tools dealership. He then worked in sales for John Hancock Insurance Company and most recently for Help-You-Insure Insurance Agency.
Throughout his life, George maintained a high degree of interest in hunting, camping, fishing and backpacking as well as martial arts where he attained a 4th Degree Black Belt in Bill Aguiar's organization.
He leaves two sons, George E. Owen III and Patrick Owen both of Marion, his father George E. Owen Sr. and his brother David Owen both of Dartmouth.
According to his wishes, his ashes will be scattered at the top of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire. Private arrangements are with the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, Ma.
