NEW BEDFORD — Henry C. Zeitler, age 88 years, of North Dartmouth, died Monday, July 17, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Cecilia Olszewski Zeitler.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Christopher and Elizabeth Kaiser Zeitler, he was a graduate of New Bedford High School. He was employed for 30 years as a cook at Taunton State Hospital until retiring.
Mr. Zeitler was a World War II Army veteran, served in the 6th armored division, 212th field artillery, A battalion as a staff sergeant, and was a member of the Richard F. Howland National Guard Field Artillery Veterans Association. An avid HAM operator, WlYEG, he enjoyed speaking with people all over the world. He also loved to garden and was especially fond of growing orchids for pleasure as well as cooking for family.
In addition to his wife he is survived by nieces June Roy and Frances Aguiar, nephews Robert Barnes and Michael Barnes, grandnieces and grandnephews, his two sisters-in-law Irene Olszewski and Czes Barnes, and uncle of the late John Kuznar.
His funeral will take place on Friday, July 21, 2006, at 11 A.M. in the Wilson Chapel, 479 County St., New Bedford, followed by burial with military honors in Rural Cemetery
