Barbara J. (Beaton) Millerick, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 24, 2024. She was 91 years of age.
Barbara was born in Boston on September 11, 1932, a daughter of the late Leo O. Beaton and Agnes M. (Kelly) Beaton. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School System and graduated from Charlestown High School, where she was voted most athletic. Barbara worked for the Boston Housing Authority and for the Gaston-Snow-Eli-Bartlett law firm as a switchboard operator for many years until her retirement. For 60 years, she enjoyed being a resident of the Ellis Haven Camp Ground in Plymouth. She was an avid Boston Sports fan who could talk every sport as well as politics. In her younger years her claim to fame was making an unassisted triple play in a mostly male baseball league. Her athletic talents later lead her to try out for the Woman's Basebell League. Barbara loved watching cooking shows and was famous for her chili and Puerto Rican turkey. Most of all, Barbara enjoyed all the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was also an avid supporter of the Charlestown Boy's and Girl's Club.
Barbara is the beloved wife of the late David A. Millerick Sr. She is the devoted mother of Janice Brady and her husband Paul, Michael "Micky" Millerick, Deborah Connors, David Millerick Jr., Kevin Millerick and his wife Pati, Susan MacDonald and her husband Al, Kelly O'Neil and Kevin O'Neil, and her late baby daughter Mary Ann. She is the loving "Barbi" to her grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Shannon, Christopher, Owen, Ryan, Taylor, Bizzy, Patrick, Philip, Kevin, the late Danielle, and to her 10 great-grandchildren and 2 soon to be born great-grandsons. She is the dear sister of Paul Beaton and his wife Nancy.
A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.
