Guy Anderson “Andy” Cox of Tifton, GA passed away on May 23, 2024. He was born on Feb 15 , 1946 in Tifton, GA to the late Guy Anderson “Moose” Cox and Mary Cox.
After graduating from Tift County High School where he served as class president, Andy attended the University of Georgia where he earned a BA in Business. He then went on to graduate magna cum laude from Mercer University College of Pharmacy in Atlanta. Andy retired from the GBI and State Board of Pharmacy where he enjoyed a long career serving as DEA Special Agent/Pharmaceutical Investigator.
If you knew Andy, you know he loved Doo Wop music, animals, assigning endearing nicknames to family and friends, innocent pranks, and making people laugh. He loved reminiscing on his college days and the stories never failed to entertain.
Andy was a beloved uncle and he loved his nieces, great nieces, and nephew.
He is survived by his sisters, Cindy Cox Wiley of Tifton and Anne Cox Threadgill of Watkinsville, nieces Mary Anne Little of Corrales, NM, Laura Little of Athens, GA, and Margaret Anne Brock of Tifton, GA, and nephew Robert Sumner of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He also had three great nieces, Bailey Brock, Harper Brock, and Finley Brock, all of Tifton.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Tift County Animal Shelter in Andy’s name to honor his love and devotion for animals.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. June 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Joseph L. Crumley officiating. Andy will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on June 2, 2024, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Joe Gray, Leighton Lang, James Brady, Steve Rigdon and Randy Brady will serve as pallbearers. Bruce Donaldson will serve as an honorary escort.
