Loving husband, devoted father, extraordinary old man. Long-time resident of Abington, MA, Richard passed away at the hospital surrounded by his loving family on May 22, 2024, at age 80.
Richard was born on November 11, 1943 in New Haven, CT to father Richard F. Wall and mother Doris Irene (Wilson) Wall. He grew up in Hamden, CT, and is predeceased by his beloved older sister, Carol Pugliese, and his younger half-brother, Kenny Wall. Graduate of Notre Dame High School (West Haven, CT) and Stonehill College (Easton, MA), Richard had many careers and worked hard in everything he did, from entering the ministry in the Brothers of the Holy Cross, teaching high school English, working as an investment banker at First National Bank of Boston, owning and operating Manamooskeagin Pet Shop and Kennel with his wife Maureen, to driving school buses and tour buses well into his 70s.
Richard was as committed a husband and father as you could wish for, tirelessly and lovingly providing for his wife Maureen, and his children Maureen, Richard, and Mary, throughout his life. Richard and Maureen were married for 56 years, having wed in 1968 and moving to Massachusetts in 1970. Richard is survived by his wife, his three children, his son-in-law Daniel, his daughter-in-law Marlena, and his five grandchildren who captured his whole heart: Violet, Lucy, Noah, Henry, and Seraphina.
We will always remember his love of going out for breakfast, driving anywhere and everywhere (particularly to view lighthouses and the coastline), making goofy “dad jokes” and puns, enjoying time with his grandkids, doing yard work, cooking way too much food, and, most of all, his love. Richard was always ready to welcome anyone with a plate and open arms. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
