Ruth Lillian (Anderson) Johnson, 93, of Worcester, passed away at Saint Vincent’s Hospital with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, May 15th, 2024.
She is predeceased by her husband of 69 years, George O. Johnson, her three sisters, Evelyn E. Hagerstrom , Alice Sofia Crouse, Signe J. Johnson, her three brothers, John S. Anderson Jr., Frank Russel Anderson, Helmer E. Anderson, and her great-great nephew Carter Lolax. She leaves behind her many wonderful cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, friends, and her neighbors who loved her dearly.
Ruth was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of John s. Anderson and Ellen (Jernstrom) Anderson and graduated from Commerce High School. She was employed for 37 years at State Mutual Life Insurance Company and was the first women president of their Fellowship Club, retiring as Chief Examiner of Individual Life Claims. She was an avid skier and golfer, excellent at both, and was secretary of the Scandinavian Ski Club.
Ruth was an extremely kind, elegant, generous, intelligent person who would go out of her way to help anyone. Her quick wit and sensor of humor always brought chuckles to any one lucky enough to spend time with her. She was a talented baker and crocheter, although her humble nature would say otherwise. Her love will forever be missed.
