FRANKLIN ---- James “Jim” H. Hammond, 74, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at home.
He was born in Penacook, NH, the son of Irene (Foote) Nickerson and John L. Hammond.
Jim was a retired USMC veteran, he served in Vietnam. He moved to Franklin, NH, several decades ago and raised his family there. He retired from NHBB. Jim was lucky enough to find love again with his second wife Terry for 22+ years. Jim had a wonderful sense of humor and was a generous soul. He loved to take care of many animals that ventured on his lawn. He loved watching birds and feeding animals.
Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends and whomever he met. He will forever be missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife Theresa Hammond; Theresa’s children, Michelle Young and her children Heather Buckley, Brianna Young and Kieran Christopher Young, Joseph Leroux and his children Erica and Laura Leroux and their grandchildren; son James J. Hammond and his children, Tyler, Samantha, Athena, Michael and Tammy; daughter Amy Vasquez and her children, Lily Mei Byron and William Byron III; step-children from his predeceased wife, Clare B. Hammond, Nancy Moore, Stephanie Dacosta, Kathy Dawson, Donna Place and John; siblings Sandra Hazeltine, Richard Nickerson, Terry Huckins, Linda Lafontaine, Dawn Tinsley, Robert Hammond, Leland Hammond and Wayne Hammond; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Donna; wife Clare; father John; granddaughters, Gina Duquette, Chrissy Place, Trisha Waterman; step-daughter Joanne Flynn; and recently his mother Irene.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be held at on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 11:00am at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH.
