WORCESTER - George Angelis, 84, passed away at home on May 20th surrounded by the family he so very much loved.
He was born in Ktimeni, Karditsas, Greece to loving parents, Vasilios and Vasiliki (Gakos) Angelis, and five brothers whom he loved dearly: Athanasios of blessed memory, Dimitrios, Panagiotis, Apostolis, and Konstantinos. George is remembered today in his village for his immense work ethic that was only surpassed by his smile and kindness for others, first working as a farmer and later as a Master Carpenter where he built many homes and even bridges. His vision was always to create a better future for his family. After working 6 years in Germany, he returned home to Greece to make the best decision of his life, marrying his eternal love, Dorothea (Galanis). Together they moved to America where he continued to work throughout New England as a Master Carpenter and raised a loving family. They worked hard and sacrificed for their family to achieve all their dreams while always maintaining their faith in Christ. His greatest achievement is his family and community legacy. George leaves behind his wife of 57 blessed years, Dorothea; his beloved sons, Bill, Dimitrios, and Arthur; 3 daughters-in-law whom he considered his own daughters, Leslie, Sweetheart, and Daylin; and 8 grandchildren who were his greatest joy, Evalyn, Dorothea, and Vasilia; Georgianna, Christian, and Sofia; and Athanasia and George. He also leaves numerous sisters-in-law, cousins, nephews, nieces, Godfamily, the mother of 2 of his grandchildren, Sheryn, and
close family friends whom he considered and loved as immediate family. He was always a devoted member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and to all those who attended. Those in Worcester County and the Greek community are very much aware of his lifelong love for and commitment to them as well. His funeral will be held, Friday, May 24th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, with his visitation from 9:30 until the time of the service in the Cathedral on Friday. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
