Obituary

Mary Lee Aldrich passed away April 29, 2024 at Artisan at Hudson Assisted Living in Hudson,
MA. She was born in Richmond VA and raised in Greenbrier County, West Virginia by her parents Virgil and Mary Mees Summerfield. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Reuben J. Aldrich Sr., her son Thomas V. Aldrich, her brother John M. Summerfield and his wife Trudy, her sister in law Janet (Aldrich) McDonald McClain and three brother in laws, Glenn McDonald, Jack McClain and Richard Kellum, and her niece Margaret (Kellum) Worsham.
She lived in Hanover Township, Northampton County, PA for nearly 40 years and was active in civic affairs, serving on several Township committees and boards. She was active in the American Association of University Women, and was the inspiration for a large book collection donation made by the Estate of Thomas Aldrich to the AAUW Book Fair, earlier this April. She was an avid reader, an opera buff and pursued the genealogy of both her and her husband's ancestors, and enjoyed extensive travel, playing bridge and spending time with family and friends.
She attended Sullins College and graduated from West Virginia University. She was an Episcopalian.
Survivors: Son Reuben J. Aldrich Jr. and wife Kanuk On, of Houston TX, daughter Lee Ann and husband Robert J. Thompson of Maynard, MA, granddaughters Taylor Thompson of Braintree MA and Rachel Thompson of Maynard MA, sister in law Rosemary (Aldrich) Kellum, a nephew and nine nieces.
Services will be private.
