Obituary

Marie Andre Adolphe was born on October 26, 1962 in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti to Marie Alourdes Leger and T. Andre who both have preceded her in passing.

In her early years in Haiti, Marie dreamed of a life better than the one she knew; to live in America and raise a family. She attended Elementary Anglade and her high school years Isidore Jean Louis.

In 1984 she made the hard decision to leave all she knew behind to make her dreams come true and immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts. Here she would spend the next 40 years sacrificing and building that life, making that dream a reality and cultivating a strong Haitian Community. She paved the way for the rest of her family to continue their lives in America by opening her home and heart supporting all those who were in need. Her very first job in the US was at a diner, where she mastered the art of her legendary homemade pancakes. Marie continued to show her care and concern for others by working as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant for over 25 years, most recently at Careone in Newton, MA. Here she worked in her faith creating lasting memories for the numerous patients she tended to over the years as well as her coworkers.

In her spare time, she continued to show great care to her family by cooking family sized portions for a single person to take home to eat for days and crocheting beautiful blankets that she would later give as gifts. One special area of joy for her was taking care of her colorful and lively parakeets. The other was her almost reverent love of music from Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Shania Twain; their ballads seemed to touch her spirit in a special way that brought joy to her and those around her.

On the evening of May 11, Marie Andre Adolphe peacefully entered her eternal rest surrounded by her sons, whom she loved with all of her heart. She leaves behind to cherish her memory and honor her legacy: sons Lesley (Silvie), Allen, Vonski (Jessica), and Jonathan Brian; grandchildren Beverly, Shemar, Keith, Madison, Aiden Anilus; her siblings Judith Leger (Booz Alexis), Marie C Leger, Herline Narcisse (Lubin Wilbens), Nastania Decoline, Kettly Change Cadeus and Gregory Cadeus, Synthia Change Cadichon and Duroy Cadichon, Evelyne Change Joassaint and Ralph Joassaint, Carmelie Cange Fleurant and Pharat Fleurant, Kendal Adolphe and Marie Paulette Adolphe, Marie Miche Charles and François Charles, Yvrose Change, one brother who proceeded her in death, and a host of nieces, nephews, special friends, and dear coworkers. She also leaves behind a wonderful community indelibly impacted with her kindness and love to all who welcomed having another mother, sister, or friend who wanted nothing but the best for you.

Remember this verse when you think of Marie and what she has done for those of us in her community: “Honor her for all that her hands have done and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.” Proverbs 31:31
