Myra Katherine (Kathy) Tucker, 73, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away on May 19, 2024. Kathy was born in Tifton, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ben J. and Grace Rowan Tucker. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Danny Thomas Tucker, Jackie Tucker, Jimmy Tucker and Ben Tucker; one sister, Frances T. Brewer; and a brother-in-law, Hilton Purvis.

Kathy grew up in Tifton and graduated from Tift County High School in 1968. She attended ABAC and graduated from Valdosta State University in 1973. She taught in Elementary Schools in Albany, Georgia and St. Croix, Virgin Islands. She worked successfully in real estate in Albany before moving to Atlanta. What became her life passion, however, was her founding of a non-profit, Cornerstone Missions, and her Children’s Church in 1993. She rescued many children and adults from difficult situations. There are many of those children who are adults now. Many of them will tell you of the debt they owe “Miss Kathy”.
A graveside service will be held on June 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Shane Tucker will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
