LACONIA ---- Richard ‘Dick’ Oliver Hodgman, 84, of Morrill Street, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Concord, NH.
Dick was born on November 10, 1939, in Springfield, MA, the son of Lander ‘Phillip’ Partridge and Alice (Oliver) Hodgman.
Richard obtained an associate degree from East Coast Aero Tech. in 1959. He moved to Laconia in 1960 where he went to work for Laconia Needle as a foreman until they closed in 1980. He continued to work in the manufacturing industry for Rival Precision and then Tangent Tool until he semi-retired in 2001. Dick was a member of the Lakes Region Industrial Management Club holding all chairs and as president from 1972-73. He was also a starting member for the J. Oliva Hout Vocational Education Center 1981 until the doors opened in 1983. He went on contributing as chairperson 1990-97.
He was an avid automobile enthusiast, a member of the Orientals Hot Rod Car Club, and an active member of the National Corvette Restoration Society. Dick was also a hobbyist collecting S scale trains. Richard loved to fix things and to help people. He especially loved and enjoyed his family and great grandchildren.
Dick is survived by his son Glenn Hodgman and his wife Debbie, five grandchildren, Jacob, James, Jeff, Jerrica and Aaran, and fourteen beloved great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Doris ‘Lee’ (Prescott) Hodgman, son Scott Hodgman, grandson Scott ‘Moe’ Hodgman, and his sister Joanne Shaw.
