Carl R. Citelli, 69, of Chester, NH, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on May 18, 2024. Born February 4, 1955, in Flushing Queens, NY, to the late Anthony and Angelina (Pinieri) Citelli.
Carl grew up in Orange County, New York, until moving to NH in 1983 with his wife, Jan. Since then, they have made their home New Hampshire where they have raised their three children. Carl has been a resident of Chester, NH for the past three years, formerly living in Windham, NH.
Carl has spent the last 43 years in the logistics business. Recently retired from NFI Logistics Americas as Vice President. Carl was the President of NEARS (North East Association of Rail Shippers) and served on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Derry, NH. He was also a member of the Rotary Club of Derry, NH, where he was recently awarded the Paul Harris Fellow. This award is the highest form of recognition that can be bestowed upon a Rotarian. This award is presented to a member who has made an outstanding contribution to the community. Anyone who knew Carl, knew what this award meant to him.
You could always find Carl cooking and grilling his colorful meals, traveling with his wife, Jan, and spending time with his family and grandchildren, Joey and Maddie. Hobbies included landscaping and gardening, making his famous Limoncello, and stopping to talk to anyone with animals. Thursday nights were spent cooking for his close friends and enjoying their company with a good cigar.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Janet (Henwood) Citelli of Chester, NH; his three children, Kristen Lynn Citelli, Matthew Carl Citelli, Kimberly Brooke Liguori; and his son-in-law Nicholas Liguori; his two grandchildren, Joseph Nicholas and Madeline Reese; his brother, Alfred Citelli and his wife JoAnn Citelli; and nieces and numerous cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 23rd from 4:00–7:00 PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 24th at 10:00 AM in St. Matthew Catholic Church, 2 Searles Road, Windham, NH, with cremation to follow. A private burial will be in the Great Hill Cemetery in Chester, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Derry, PO Box 140, East Derry, NH 03041.
