Johnny Lee Evans, 55, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. Friday, September 6, 2002, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Johnny Cooper officiating. Mr. Evans was laid to rest at Old Mount Vernon Cemetery.
Kenneth Evans, Lindsey Evans, Ivey Evans, Ray Evans, Paul Leger and Christopher Leger served as pallbearers.
Born September 24, 1946, in Tift County, Mr. Evans was the son of the late Herman Lafate Evans and Pearl Apperson Evans. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Charles Evans. He was employed at Tifton aluminum Company, where he had worked for 36 years; and he was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Dottie Hall Evans of Tifton; one son, Herman Evans of Tifton; one daughter, Missy Turner of Tifton; four brothers, Ivey Evans, Ray Evans and Lindsey Evans, all of Tifton and Kenneth Evans of Sylvester; two sisters, Lynn Spires and Faye Hall, both of Tifton; and five grandchildren, Howard Evans, Nikki Evans, Becky Evans, Brett Turner and Jeremy Turner.
