Elaine Brown, 81, of Chester, NH, formerly of Westford, MA passed away Monday May 13, 2024, at Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH after a lengthy illness. Elaine was born September 27, 1942, in Boston, MA and was a daughter of the late Paul and Bonnie (Virginia) Skidmore. She was raised and educated in Burlington, MA and was a graduate of Burlington High School. Elaine had been a resident of Chester for the past 23 years and had resided in Westford for the 30 years prior to that.
Elaine had been a graphic designer with Raytheon Corporation and CSA Press. She loved cooking, baking, and walking. She also loved doing crafts and decorating her home. Elaine was an avid dog lover (especially Goldens Retrievers). She also enjoyed camping with her family at the Bluffs in Freedom, NH, where she made many friends. Especially her best friend, Patty O’Connor. Elaine and her husband Bill loved listening and dancing to the music of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.
Elaine had a close group of friends, consisting of Charlotte Mahoney, Rose Murphy and Gloria Labrecque and called their group the “Golden Girls” that had been together for over 50 years. She will forever be remembered for the love she shared with her grandchildren, and the close bond she had with her grandson Tyler, whom she helped raise as a young child.
Members of the family include her loving husband of 60 years, William “Bill” Brown, her son Bill Brown, daughter Traci Jones and her partner Robert Fisher, three grandchildren, Tyler Jones, Cassidy Brown and Hailey Brown, close family friend, Debi Jencks, and her former daughter-in-law Jennifer Brown. In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her stillborn son Billy Brown in 1967, her three brothers, Paul, Jackie, and Frank Skidmore.
After cremation, calling hours will be held on Sunday May 26, 2024, from 1 to 3 pm with a funeral service at 2:30 pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium 15 Birch Street Derry, NH.
