LACONIA ---- It is with sadness the family of Richard ‘Dick’ Hervy Carrier, 89, announces his passing on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Concord Hospital in Laconia.
Dick was born on October 25, 1934, in Laconia, the son of the late Hervy Carrier and Antoinette (Limoge) Carrier.
He graduated from St. John’s and Laconia High School. He was affectionately called ‘Pidge’.
Dick joined the U.S Navy and proudly served on the USS Coral Sea as a gunner’s mate during the Korean War. Returning home, he met and married his wife of 58 years, Claire (Ouellette) and was a loving father to their children, Sandy and Steve.
He was a supervisor in the prestressed concrete business for many years until a back injury changed his life. Dick retrained becoming a real estate agent and worked with Old Mill Properties and Coldwell Banker selling real estate in the Lakes Region.
Dick had a great love for the beauty of New Hampshire and could often be found with his wife and children skiing at Gunstock Recreation Area or playing tennis at Opechee Park.
Dick is survived by his daughter Sandy and her husband Steven Taylor of Apex, NC, son Steve Carrier of Scituate, MA, grandchildren, Jack Carrier of Boston, MA, Abby Carrier of Boston, MA, Peter Taylor and his wife Hannah of Charlotte, NC and Lauren Taylor Sprinkle and her husband Bryce of Fuquay Varina, NC. In addition to his parents, Dick is predeceased by his wife Claire, sister Patricia Wescott and brother James Carrier.
There will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 10:30am, at St Andre Bessette Parish – Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue, Laconia, NH 03246.
Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia.
