Joseph A. Siracusa, age 81, of Braintree, MA, passed away peacefully in his home on May 14, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Rose Siracusa. He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Frances Siracusa (Gazzana) who lovingly cared for him throughout their marriage and especially so in his final years. Joe will be greatly missed by his children Rosanne and Pano Fitopoulos, Marc and Marisa Siracusa, Toni and Jim Kanes, as well as his seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joe is also survived by his cherished sisters Rosanne Centurino (the late John Centurino), Joan Howard (David Howard), his sister-in-law Nina Ianelli (the late Joseph Ianelli) and his late brother-in-law Joe Gazzana.
Joe served our country as a national guardsman and completed his training at Fort Dix in New Jersey. He worked in the garment industry for many years alongside his father and partner at “Girltown'' and later in their joint business venture manufacturing women’s apparel at “Material Things.” Joe was well loved and respected by his employees of whom he treated as family. He was also a self-taught and very skilled mechanic, carpenter, and architect. A true “Jack of all trades,” he enjoyed spending his free time helping family and friends in need of his God-given talents of being able to build or repair just about anything. Joe had a quick and understated sense of humor and he never missed an opportunity to entertain us with a clever pun.
Above all else, family was everything to Joe. His legacy will live on in his grandchildren Anna, Stephanie, Andrew, Jordan, Joseph, Ava and James and his great-grandchildren Colin and Kaia who will continue to be inspired by his unwavering dedication to the friends and family he held dear.
A Celebration of Life to honor Joe will be held in the near future. Donations in Joe’s memory can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research at michaeljfox.org.
