Obituary

PORTER- Helena “Judy” Earley, age 80, of Porter, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on May 10th, 2024.
She was born in Providence, RI on June 18, 1943, to the late Daniel J. and Emma P. (McIntire) Earley. Judy was raised in Peabody, MA, and lived in Wenham, MA before moving to West Baldwin, ME in 1971. Judy spent the last twenty years in Porter, ME.
In her life, Judy accomplished many things. Following school, Judy joined the United States Navy in which she was honorably discharged. Judy was also a cancer survivor after beating breast cancer in 2002.
Judy held numerous jobs, but none more rewarding to her, than being a “Foster Grandparent” at Cornish Elementary School, where she enjoyed watching the students grow up over the years and meeting her close circle of dependable friends.
Judy enjoyed volunteering at the Cornish Bargain Shop and other local support causes. She was a Den Leader in Cubs Scouts for her son’s troop. Judy was involved with the scout program for years, she also volunteered her cooking ,and time, to many Grange, VFW, Fire Dept and Church suppers over her life.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, bingo, and camping. But most of all will be remembered for tirelessly baking, trying new recipes, and never letting you leave her house without a new, delicious treat to bring home. In her own words, she “loved baking, especially for family.” Each holiday season Judy would make her loved ones a holiday platter filled with baked goods. She enjoyed making May Day baskets and cookies to donate. An avid dog lover, Judy was always willing to dog-sit for her family members' dogs. She enjoyed watching the Boston sports team, but especially the Bruins.
She enjoyed attending all the events her grandchildren had and participated in over the years and being there to support them. She always enjoyed taking them to the fair when they were younger and spending any time with them.
Judy is survived by her son Kevin, his wife Sarah, and her two grandchildren, that were the world to her, Emily and Jacob.
Judy’s family would like to thank those who were there for Judy throughout her life. Judy had so many who loved her, and we are unable to list everyone, but a special thanks to Marianne, Barbara, Gustie, Gene, Tammy, Kristen, Laurie, Heidi, Melody, Gary, and all the wonderful visiting nurses, Sacopee Rescue, surrounding neighbors, and friends who visited and helped throughout the years.
Per her request, there will be no funeral or burial services. Family will hold a private graveside service at a later date, as Judy wished.
