James “Richard” McAllister, 60, of Tifton passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, in Tift County. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Liberty Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Michael Petty and the Rev. Steve Tucker officiating. Mr. McAllister will be laid to rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mr. McAllister will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Brian Rutland, Christopher Rutland, Pete McAllister, Jerry McAllister, Matthew Alibozek and Steven Hughes, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Born June 16, 1963, in Tifton, Mr. McAllister was the son of the late John Henry McAllister, Sr. and Isabel Gardner McAllister. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, John Henry McAllister, Jr., and John E. Bard. He was a farmer and worked at Rutland Forest Nursery. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tifton. He loved his family and he loved to fish. His favorite food was fried pork chops and he loved to drink Coca-Cola.
Mr. McAllister is survived by one daughter, Haley McAllister of Jacksonville, Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” and Margaret Bard of Brookfield; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Debbie and Terrell Rutland of Lenox, Karen and Rick Alibozek of Columbus and Mary McAllister of Tifton; and three grandchildren.
