Obituary

LEWISTON - Betty Louise Skillings age 82 passed away on May 6, 2024, peacefully at home with her family by her side.
She was born in Bridgton, ME on March 8, 1942, the oldest daughter of eight to the late Neal and Alice Mosley.
She graduated Samuel D. Hanson High School, Buxton ME in 1960. After high school she started working for Milliken, Tomlinson CO in Portland, ME as a Key Punch Operator where she met the love of her life Elmer Skillings Jr.
They married on September 19,1964 and started a little farm in Raymond, ME where they had their two oldest daughters Tammy and BettyLou. They decided to grow their family and moved to Hollis, ME where they welcomed a son Eric and a daughter Mary-Ellen completing their family.
Elmer had a long illness and Betty became his full-time caretaker. She spent many years caring for him and raising their four children. They enjoyed building neighboring camps with Elmer’s brother Frank and his wife Glennie; this turned into years of enjoyment with their kids and grandchildren.
One of her greatest badges in life was to be called Grammy Betty by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was so proud of all of them and their accomplishments! She loved when they visited and got lots of hugs, many laughs and great conversations from the oldest grandchild to the youngest great grandchild, Grammy Betty loved them wholeheartedly.
She was a faithful Christian and enjoyed attending Marston Corners Baptist Church, Auburn ME, with Pastor Chris.
She enjoyed baking, gardening, long walks, reading the Portland Press Herald and the Sun Journal. She enjoyed indulging in sweets and sipping on hot tea. She never missed an episode of Jeopardy and was a fierce contestant.
She is missed dearly by all those blessed enough to know and love her! Predeceased by: Parents Neal and Alice Mosley, Husband Elmer Skillings Jr.
Survived by:
Daughter Tammy and her husband Todd Foster of Porter, daughter BettyLou and her husband Lester Heatley of Saco, a son Eric and his wife Stacie of Lewiston, and daughter Mary-Ellen and husband Jerry Souliere of Westbrook.
Granddaughters: Amber and husband Chris Martin of Saco, Shelby and husband Colby Robinson of Limerick, and Breana Foster of Hiram.

Grandsons: Justin Skillings, Ryan Skillings and Jon Skillings of Lewiston, Durand Heatley of Saco. Great Granddaughters: Rylie, Reagan and McKenna Martin of Saco.
Brothers: George, Roger and wife Dawn, and Brian all of Standish, Robert and partner Julie of Waldoboro. Sisters: Ellen and partner Mike of Wilmington, MA, Mary and partner Christopher of Englewood FL, and Sister-in-law Patty Mosley of Standish. Along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and her beloved cat Tangy.
Services will be held on Friday May 24th.
A visiting hour will be held from 11am-12 noon, with a funeral service immediately following at Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St. Cornish. A graveside service to follow at Dow's Corner Cemetery on Route 35A Cape Road Standish.
