Billie Christine Johnson Blalock, 87, of Tifton passed away Sunday, May 12, 2024, at her residence. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Blalock at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born March 1, 1937, in Tift County, Mrs. Blalock was the daughter of the late Alfred Johnson and Maude Owens Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ted Lanier Blalock, who passed away in 1994; one grandson, Scott Blalock; a son-in-law, C. W. Bishop, Jr.; and two brothers, Herman Lee “Bay” Johnson and Thomas Henry “Punch” Johnson. She was a sweet, loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her children and others. Before retiring, she worked as a cosmetologist; and she was a member of Brookfield Baptist Church for many years.
Mrs. Blalock loved going to the beach and jumping in the waves because she just loved the water. She loved to dance and would have friends come over to teach them dance steps. She loved bowling and bowled on a league for several years. She was an avid gardener and spent much of her free time tending to her yard and flowers.
Later in life, she developed a love for camping, which she thought she would not like but found rest and peace sitting around a campfire.
For many years, she rode horses in horse shows, parades and trail rides.
She had her own motorcycle and rode for several years, taking trips with her husband and friends, riding in the rain, the heat, and the cold.
She had many friends, and they were a very important part of her life. She was always there for them when needed.
Mrs. Blalock is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Teresa Blalock of Chula; one daughter, Sherry Bishop of Tifton; one grandson, Casey Blalock of College Park, Maryland; and her nieces and their husbands, Brenda and Mike Fletcher, Rhonda and Keith Eden and Bonnie Kloberdanz.
