Barbara “Gail” Horton, 64, of Tifton passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mrs. Horton at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at New River Free Holiness Church Cemetery in Berrien County, where she will be laid to rest. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Hayden Bell, Austin Dove, Jacob Dove, Richard Purvis, Jamie Purvis and Kaleb Purvis will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 15, 1960, in Tift County, Mrs. Horton was the daughter of the late James Anderson Purvis, Sr. and Margaret Mavis Simpson Purvis. She was also preceded in death by one brother, James Anderson Purvis, Jr. and one sister, Deborah Elaine Whittle. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of New River Free Holiness Church in Berrien County. She loved her entire family, especially her husband and children; and she enjoyed canning all kinds of vegetables and jellies.
Mrs. Horton is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tom Edward Horton of Tifton; one son, Charlie Horton of Tifton; two daughters, Crystal Hamilton and Scott Milliones and Jennifer and Jamie Bell, all of Tifton; a brother-in-law, Ira Whittle of Tifton; a sister-in-law, Lynn Purvis of Tifton; seven grandchildren, Madelyn Horton, Callie Horton, Hayden Bell, Gabby Bell, Coy Bell, Michael Hamilton and Ryan Hamilton; one great-grandson, Hagan Rooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.
