Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" J. Galanti, age 91, of Boston's North End, Medford, and Delray Beach, FL.

March 18, 1932 - February 23rd, 2024

We will deeply miss his charisma, inspiration, gentle demeanor, wisdom, his ability to listen and provide guidance, his Boston Sports team enthusiasm, his kindness and his calmness. To many he was dedicated, always energized, decent, honest, reliable, an entrepreneur, steadfast in caring, thoughtful and loving. In all the roles he took on, there was commitment, honor and pride, from his dedication to his immediate and extended family, friends, his faith and his community. His presence was warm, jovial and comforting to all who had the opportunity of interacting with him.

Jerry saw the best in everyone and brought an indomitably positive spirit to everything he did. At this time of sorrow, we honor Jerry for the remarkable man he was, a beacon of love and strength that shall forever shine brightly in our hearts. Those that shared their admiration for Jerry have said it best: "He was always there for everyone", "a prime mover, doer and communicator", "Jerry was truly such a good man", "He brightened the lives of all he touched", "He was a one of a kind guy", "A dedicated Catholic bringing his charitable and unselfish persona to others in need and supporting the Church", "A great guy, a great example and always where you needed him", and so much more.

From his early life in the North End of Boston, in his Military Service, his career as a Basketball Referee, to building a notable go to brand in Medford with Jerry's Carpet on Mystic Ave, plus his 64 years of marriage with Sylvia, Jerry carried and shared the happiness that everyone is looking for.

Jerry loved his life in Boston and the solid successes and friendships that lasted through many, many years. Upon retirement, Jerry and Sylvia relocated to Florida and there Jerry stayed just as busy as in his Boston days with committee commitments and community details in their new residence. He treasured the many friends he made in the Pines West and dedicated himself to making sure all was orderly and right within the Complex for the many year-round and seasonal residents.

He will be remembered as a caring and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Relative and Friend. Jerry will be dearly missed by his wife, Sylvia (Messina), his beloved daughters, Maria of Ohio and Janine of Delray Beach, his son Gerald of Santa Barbara, CA, and cherished grandchild, Lucy of Newton, and by all of whom he loved dearly and was actively involved in their lives and all those that had the privilege of knowing him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Antoinetta (Lebrante) Galante, and his brother Giacomo (Jackie), and his sisters Sarah & Carmella (Milly). Jerry is survived by siblings Anna Spadaro, Joanne Fusco, Anthony, Joseph Junior and Steven Galante.

The family will receive extended family and friends on Saturday, June 1st at 10 AM in St. Raphael’s Church, 512 High St., Medford, followed by an 11 AM funeral Mass, with burial immediately following at Oak Grove Cemetery, also in Medford.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory may be sent to St Francis House, PO Box 120, Etna NH 03750-0120 or Tunnel to Towers c/o Frank Siller, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
