Edward G. Pegnam, Jr., age 77, “Ted” as he was affectionately known to his family and friends , of Whitman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the VA Boston Healthcare System-Brockton.
Born in Brockton, he was the son of the late Edward G. Pegnam, Sr. and Eleanor (Place) Pegnam.
Mr. Pegnam served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Ed worked as a manager for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Employment and Training for many years before retiring.
His life was centered around his deep love for Golf and was a member of the Brockton Country Club. Edward enjoyed skiing before he became ill and played baseball as a kid.
He lived and loved hard. His family will remember his fun and comical personality. He was a loyal friend who was always there for the people he loved.
Ed is survived by a sister, Barbara J. Tatro of East Taunton; and his two nieces, Jeanne Jones of Clinton and Anne-Marie Valla of East Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123) Brockton. Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of the visitation. Interment will be held privately at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
