William P. “Bill” Kelley, Jr., a longtime resident of Medford, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 6th at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 73. Born in Boston, Bill was the son of the late D. Mary (Maltese) Kelley and William P. Kelley and was raised in Roxbury, South Boston and Medford.
Bill worked in the accounting and finance fields for decades at Liberty Mutual and the Mellon Bank, until he retired. Bill was very devoted to his family. He was the quintessential big brother to his siblings, always protective of them. Spending time with family and friends was a priority for him. When socializing, he liked to go dancing, bowling, or out to eat. Summer and winter were both good times for him, since going to the beach and skiing were among his favorite activities.
Bill was a dear brother to Thomas M. Kelley of Medford, Richard J. Kelley and his wife Maureen of Chelmsford, and Paula K. Fairweather and her husband Phil of Londonderry, NH. He was a devoted uncle to Michael Kelley and his wife Nicole, Brian Kelley and his wife Courtney, Kevin Kelley, Eric Fairweather, Lauren Kelley, David Kelley, and the late Craig Fairweather. He was a loving great uncle to Chloe, Lily, and Sophie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Bill’s funeral service at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Tuesday, May 14th at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be on Monday, May 13th from 4-8 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
