HEBRON ---- Doris E. “Ama” Riddle, 98, passed away, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at home, with her daughters by her side.
She was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, December 2, 1925, the daughter of Edward and Gladys (Bronner) Peck. Shortly after graduation from high school, Doris met and married Douglas Riddle with whom she spent 72 years of marriage.
Doris spent much of her life as a homemaker, focused on her family, and as a volunteer in the communities she loved. She served as a long-time Girl Scout leader, a Sunday School teacher, a volunteer at the Bridgewater-Hebron Village School, and, during WWII, in the United States Cadet Nurse Corp. She was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Hebron, Eastern Star, and a past president of Hebron Area Women’s Group.
Over the years Doris enjoyed planning wonderful family camping excursions; being creative in the kitchen; entertaining family and friends; and doing arts and crafts such as sewing, candle making, rug hooking, ceramics, and more.
Family members include her two daughters: Dian Riddle West and Derry Jean Riddle and son-in-law Joseph Hogan of Hebron; grandchildren: William Douglas West and wife Kathleen, Eric Edward West, Voss Riddle Hogan and wife Lindsay, Lee Riddle Hogan and wife Jacqueline; great-grandchildren: Perrin Debarry West, Liam Voss Hogan, Davina Debarry West, and Kellan Voss Hogan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Union Congregational Church of Hebron on June 22, 2024, at 11am.
