Angeliki (Gatzoyiannis) Gasialis, 88, of Fall River, MA, formerly of Worcester, died on Friday, April 26th with her loving family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Spyridon Gasialis. She is survived by her three daughters, Ifigenia Vrakas and her husband, Andreas; Antonia Yiantsidis and her husband, Triandafillos; and Aleka Kaloudelis and her husband, George; her sister, Androniki Vrakas. She had eight grandchildren, Marina Giannakoglou and her husband, Panagiotis, Eleni Saraiva and her husband, Matthew, Angeliki Bottos and her husband, Athanasios, Chrysovalantis Vrakas; Demosthenes, Spyridon, Constantinos, and Michael Kaloudelis; five great-grandsons, Marios, Philip, Leonidas, Alexandros, and Iordanis, and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, Evangelos, Ioannis, Andreas, and Konstandinos, and her four sisters, Areti, Despina, Athina, and Stavroula.
She was born in Lia, Thesprotia, Epirus, Greece, the daughter of Fotos and Alexandra (Lolis) Gatzoyiannis and came to Worcester in 1968 with her husband to pursue the American dream. She was employed by several local factories including Automatic Rolls in Auburn, MA. She was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, MA and St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Fall River, MA and was active in the Ladies Philoptochos Society. Her pastimes included crocheting and sewing and will be remembered for her mastery of Greek cooking, especially her spanakopita, where she would hand roll each of the layers of phyllo dough. Angeliki's greatest joy was the time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, May 11th, with her service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Burial will follow at Hope Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday in the Cathedral.
