Obituary

LIMERICK- Wanda Irene (Arcisz) Powell, 73, passed away on May 6, 2024, at her home in Limerick, Maine after a prolonged illness.
Wanda was born April 3, 1951, in Salem, Massachusetts to Alexander John Arcisz and Marie Louise (Fraser) (Stone) Arcisz.
She attended Salem, MA public schools and Masconomet Regional High School in Boxford, MA.
She was the widow of Reginald Carmen Powell of Searsmont, ME. They were married for over 44 years, living in Middleton MA before retiring to Searsmont, then Limerick, Maine.
Wanda worked as a waitress and later owned an antique dealership in Georgetown, MA. She was fiercely independent and lived life on her own terms.
Her hobbies included needlework, reading, gardening and her cats and dogs. She supported the World Animal Foundation.
One of her passions was genealogy. He traced her Fraser line back to their arrival on the ship Hector, at Pictou, Nova Scotia and her Simmons, Ryder, Marston, Crowley line to Cape Cod and Plymouth, Massachusetts, where they landed on the Mayflower. She loved to find the old, exciting stories in her history.
She loved to travel, visiting Hawaii, Florida, the Caribbean and much of New England.
Wanda was predeceased by her parents, as well as her husband, her sister Ethel M. (Stone) Burak of North Easton, MA, and brother William F. Stone (Frank), of Middleton, MA.
She is survived by her brother Alexander C. Arcisz and his wife Karen, of Newton, NH as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be planned for the near future.
