Rosalie Dahl was born on September 20, 1931, in Rapid City, South Dakota to Carl and Selma Carlson, the youngest of four. She grew up in Japan, where her parents were Christian missionaries, and Los Angeles, graduating from Culter Academy in Los Angeles and earning her B.A. in Elementary Education from Wheaton College in Illinois.
On August 2, 1958, Rosalie and Charles (Chuck) Dahl, childhood sweethearts, were married in Los Angeles. They lived in Santa Paula, where Rosalie taught kindergarten until she had their first child, David, in 1960. The family moved to Ventura, and later came two more children, Robyn and Steven.
Rosalie devoted the first decades of her marriage to homemaking and nurturing her family. She and Chuck were committed to their Christian faith and community and to their network of relatives and friends.
Since 2017, Rosalie and Chuck have lived at Ventura Townehouse and at The Estate Home in Camarillo. Even though Rosalie lost mobility, vision, and hearing, she retained her incandescent smile. She would always reach for Chuck’s hand as they sat side by side. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year.
Rosalie died on April 25, 2025, at 92 years old. She is survived by her husband Chuck, her daughter Robyn and family (husband Scott; daughter Sara and son-in-law Graham; daughters Lorrie and Anna), and son Steven and family (wife Julia; daughter Lauren; son Quinn). She is preceded in death by her son David.
Rosalie’s family wishes to extend deep gratitude to the care staff at The Estate Home.
A memorial service will be held July 13 at Orchard Community Church in Ventura.
