Joe passed away Friday, May 3 at home with his family by his side. Joe was diagnosed with dementia which caused a drastic change to his lifestyle.
Joe’s life was a testament of love, dedication and support to both his family and those around him. Joe always gave his all in everything he did. Up until the last day, he made sure that everyone knew how important it was to work hard and remain focused.
He was the family’s handyman, mechanic and the go-to person to fix all. If he couldn’t fix it, then consider it broke. His family knew he would always give the advice they needed to hear, not wanted to hear. He enjoyed riding his Harley, hiking, walking and gardening with his wife Becky.
Joe worked in the oilfield for over 40 years. He was 31 years sober, and stayed actively involved in AA. He belonged to Brotherhood Anonymous for over 14 years. He enjoyed being a sponsor and mentor.
Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years, Becky; his two sisters, Carolyn and Shirley; his three daughters, Heather, Holly (George) and Heidi (Gil); his grandchildren, Shayne, Amanda, Tyler, Dustin, Shelby, Mylo, Roklyn, Samantha, Alyssa, Jasmine, Sierra and Graysen; his thirteen great-granddaughters; his nephews and his nieces. He is preceded in death by his mom, Juanita Weatherford and his brother, Edmond Hollis.
The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to Doctor Michael Tushla. Thank you for being so caring, compassionate, supportive and always being there for our family.
Though he may no longer walk among us, Joe’s memory will forever be etched in our hearts, a gentle reminder of the strength and dignity that he brought into our lives. As we gather to honor his life, let us find comfort in the memories we shared and the love that will endure for eternity.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 1:00pm at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
