LACONIA ---- Helene Leda (Lacasse) Gouin, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2024 at St Francis Home in Laconia.
Born October 23, 1935, to the late Henry and Rosilda (Tardif) Lacasse in Laconia.
Helene attended Sacred Heart School, graduating with honors in 1953. After being awarded a scholarship from Sacred Heart, Helene attended and completed the nursing program at Manchester’s Notre Dame and returned to Laconia to work as a nurse.
She chose to stay at home to raise her sons then returned to work, managing Maurice’s Bath and Kitchen Boutique in Laconia. She served briefly as a council woman in Laconia when she and others formed a third party called The Straight Arrow Party - winning 6 out of the 7 council seats. After serving, she returned to her truly beloved profession of nursing, ultimately working over a decade at St Francis. Anyone who spent any time with Helene would find the hours melted away in delightful conversation and regret their departure. She was much loved by all who encountered her.
Helene is survived by her husband of 65 years, Maurice, her sons Norman Gouin of Gilford and Paul (Rachel) Gouin of Dadeville, AL, and her two grandsons John-Paul and Christopher. In addition to her parents, Helene is predeceased by her brother Normand Lacasse.
There will be no calling hours.
