Janet Lee Chapel, 74, died at Christopher House after a period of declining health complicated by dementia. She was born May 11, 1949 at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester, the daughter of Anna (McClintock) and Richard Edmond of Paxton, MA. Janet was married to Richard Chapel and lived in Worcester.
Janet graduated from Wachusett Regional High School, Class of 1967, along with life long friends known as the “Paxtios,” a group that remained close through adulthood. Following graduation, Janet entered the relatively new field of computer programming. Her expertise in the COBOL programming language helped several large manufacturing firms automate production machines and utilize bar codes. Janet was an enthusiastic and skilled sportsperson, excelling in golf, softball, bowling and tiddlywinks. She liked sporty cars such as her Subaru WRX and enjoyed performance driving.
In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by a younger brother, Bruce. Her oldest brother, Richard Edmond lives in Shrewsbury and her younger sister, Ann St. Thomas, lives in Charlton.
An informal memorial get together will be held at a future date.
