Walter E. Dearing, 99, of Dartmouth passed peacefully on April 28, 2024. Born on August 8, 1924 to Charles F. and Elizabeth (Bilodeau) Dearing in Dartmouth, MA.
After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he married Mary I. Souza with whom he shared 65 years.
A lifelong Dartmouth resident, Walter built his home in 1958 and resided there for the rest of his life.
Prior to retiring from Naval Underwater at Newport as a refrigeration/air conditioning technician, he established Dearing's Golf Shop, where he repaired and sold clubs. One of his great joys was to share his knowledge and experience of the game with fellow golfers.
Despite his highly competitive nature in sports, Walter was a compassionate, sensitive soul.
He is survived by his son Mark and his wife Rhonda, grandson Russell, and many good friends.
Walter was the brother of the late Charles and Harold Dearing and Maybelle McKenna.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
A donation to the Humane Society and Shelter-Southcoast or Dartmouth Natural Resource Trust would be much appreciated.
