E. Paul Wedge, a 7-year resident of Everett and longtime resident of Charlestown and formerly of Somerville, entered into eternal life on Friday, May 3, 2024, at his home in Everett. He was 80 years of age.
Paul was born in Somerville on May 9, 1943, a son of the late George Wedge and Lillian (Mayo) Wedge. He grew up in Somerville where he was educated in the Somerville Public School system and graduated from Somerville High School. Paul enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on August 9, 1960, and served his country faithfully with pride and courage. He was honorably discharged on March 4, 1965, with the rank of Private. Paul was a proud member of the Teamsters Union Local # 25 and worked for the Boston Globe, retiring in 2008 following 40 years of dedicated membership and employment. He was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus, The Halligan Club, The 520 Club of Charlestown and the Marine Corps League.
Paul enjoyed his golfing trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida with the guys from the Knights of Columbus and also his regular Tuesday card games at the knights. He also enjoyed his trips to Aruba and the cruise ship vacations with his beloved wife Maureen. Following the death of his wife Maureen in July of 2006, Paul never missed a day of visiting her grave at Woodlawn Cemetery. Paul will always be remembered by his friends at The Line Steak & Brew and The Newbridge Cafe.
Paul is the beloved husband of the late Maureen P. (Evers) Wedge. He is the devoted father of Paul Wedge and his wife Laura, Maureen Wedge Carroll, Kelley Stout and her husband Marc and the late David Wedge and his surviving wife Kerry MacCurtain. He is the loving Papa to Bailey Wedge, Matthew Wedge, Eric Wedge, Jason Wedge, Katie Carroll, Sean Wedge, Mia Stout, Lillian Wedge and his great-granddaughter Adaline Wedge. He is the beloved brother of Dorothy McGrath and her late husband Ed, Marion Kelley and her late husband Hank, Richard Wedge and his wife Louise, Carol Tiberii and her late loving partner Phil Flammia and her late husband Mike Tiberii and the late George Wedge and his wife Mary, Walter Wedge, Robert Wedge and his wife Joan and Barbara Hayward and her husband Jack. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Paul's Funeral on Friday, May 10, 2024, at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. His burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. His visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 9, (HIS BIRTHDAY) 2024, from 4 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
