Carl H. Houghton Jr, age 82, passed away on April 28, 2024 at Chestnut Hill of East Longmeadow. He was born on January 25, 1942 in Chicopee, MA, son of the late Carl H. Houghton and Dorothy (Donald) Houghton. Carl grew up in Chicopee Falls and joined the US Airforce in 1960. He later worked as a car sales manager in Northampton for many years. He later worked for Auto Parts in Springfield and was also a co-owner and manager in his wife’s salons in Northampton and Indian Orchard, the Jean Henry Salon. He is survived by his loving wife Jean H. (O’Donnell) Houghton of Chicopee; one son Carl Houghton III and his wife Sydney of NY; one daughter Sheila Houghton of FL; two stepsons Alfredo Proiette of Chicopee and Mario Proiette of Las Vegas; two brothers, Brian Houghton of Chicopee and Alan Houghton of Northampton; one sister, Dot Cote Houghton and her wife Dar of France; grandchildren Matt and Lily of Colorado; nieces Chris Houghton Haley and her husband Dr. Paul Haley of the Berkshires; nephews Brian Houghton and his wife Kerryanne and their daughter Brittany of Chicopee, Michael Houghton and his son Alex of FL and Kyle Cote Houghton of Europe. I would like to thank Chestnut hill nursing facility of East Longmeadow for the wonderful care they gave my husband Carl. A celebration of life will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Military honors will be rendered and committal prayers said at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam on Friday June 14, 2024.
