Madeleine F. LaCroix, 80, of North Smithfield, formerly of Woonsocket, died peacefully Monday April 22, 2024 at St. Antoine Residence. Born and raised in Woonsocket she was a daughter of the late Remy and Muriel (Hebert) Menard. She lived in Florida and New Jersey for several years before returning to Woonsocket.
For several years she was employed at St. Antoine Residence.
Madeleine had a special place in her heart for all animals great and small, she simply loved them all. She was a supportive member of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Her favorite times were spending summers at Matunuck beach with her family. She also enjoyed the outdoors while horseback riding. Madeleine was a natural in the kitchen; she could make anyone melt with her delicious cooking.
Madeleine will be remembered for the love she had for her family, they were the center of her world and meant everything to her. She had a friendly and outgoing personality and truly cared for everyone she knew.
Madeleine is survived by her son Eugene G. “Butch Junior” LaCroix, Jr and his companion Linda Chenot of Woonsocket. She was the sister of the late Richard Menard and is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families. She was the former wife and lifelong friend of Eugene G. “Butch Senior” Lacroix, Sr.
Services for Madeleine were private and in care of the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers the family suggest donation in Madeleine’s memory be made to the RI Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.rispca.org
