George Douglas Reese, 79, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Crisp Regional Hospital in Cordele, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, Georgia, with the Rev. Ronald Reese and Christian Reese officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fitzgerald. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the funeral home on Saturday.
Mr. Reese was born April 21, 1945, in Gordon County, Georgia, to the late Roland L. & Vera Martin Reese. He attended Fitzgerald High School and was a truck driver for Landstar for many years. He received several million miler safety awards. He enjoyed fishing at Lake George, being outdoors, and traveling. He loved his family dearly and attended Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons: Carl & Cammie Reese of Fitzgerald, Ricky & Teresa Reese of Fitzgerald, Dean & Michelle Reese of Jacksonville, Florida, Ronald & Terrie Reese of Ocilla, and Andy & Sandy Rowell of Ocilla; grandchildren: Kayla Beth Lee & Jason, Kandi Denee Reese, Carl Douglas Reese, Jr. & Angie Daniel, Ashley Dianne Reese, Robert Douglas Reese, Shelby Denise Reese, Brooklyn Joyce Reese, Destiny Clover, Desiree Bermudez, Cheyenne Jones, Laci Barron, Joycelyn Lenet Reese, Gracie Mae Reese, and Maggie Sue Reese; great-grandchildren: Christian Reese, Alyssa Fletcher, Cassidy Reese, Gavin Reese, Addison Lee, Reagan Reese, Kagan Handley, Colby Paramore, Kolby Costa, and Paislee Hutchison; a brother, Roland Lamar Reese of California; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Dunn Reese; an infant daughter; a grandson, Ricky Daniel Reese; four brothers: R.V. Reese, Sr., Howard Maxwell Reese, Paul Reese, and Donald Reese; and a sister, Lorene Shamlee.
