Richard Simonich, age 81, passed away on April 27, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 20, 1942 in Springfield, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Gula) Simonich. Richard was a graduate of Chicopee High School. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Corry (DD/DDR-817) before his honorable discharge in 1966. He had a love for repairing anything mechanical and began his career at Eddie's Service Station in Chicopee. He later put his skills to work in the printing industry before retiring as a letter carrier for the USPS. He was a member of the Easthampton Harley Owners Group and the Porsche Club of America. He is predeceased by his wife Barbara who passed away in 2023. He is survived by his two sons, Justin Simonich and his wife Emma of Maplewood, NJ and Jeremy Simonich of Chicopee; two grandchildren, Nathan and Neve, both of whom he was extremely proud; two sisters, Theresa Hayes of Miami, FL and Marilyn Piecuch of Hebron, CT along with many other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 5-7 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Funeral Service will take place on Friday, May 17th from 12:00 – 1:00 PM with an in-house prayer service beginning at 1:00PM. Burial will follow in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.
