CHARLTON – Mark R. Fitts, 44, died Sunday, April 28, in UMass/Memorial University Campus after a short illness.
He leaves his father, Roland F. Fitts, Jr. of Charlton; his mother, Brenda (Smick) Bellizzi and her husband Jerry of Brookfield; his maternal grandfather, Edgar Smick of Southbridge; an uncle, Alan Fitts and his wife Beth of Charlton; 5 aunts, Brenda Powers and her husband Bud of Charlton, Beverly Nolan of Oregon City, OR, Clara Kubert and her husband Steven Scarborough of Webster, who are also his godparents, Rhonda Vilandre and her husband Jimmy, and Cathy Renaud and her husband Steven, all of Southbridge; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Vivian (Lamothe) Smick, by his paternal grandparents Roland F. Fitts, Sr. and his wife Margaret (Stebbins) Fitts, and by his uncle Russell Smick.
He was born on June 26, 1979 in Southbridge and lived in Charlton most of his life. He graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley in 1997.
Mr. Fitts was the manager of Rollie’s Variety Store in Thompson, CT for many years.
He liked all sports, especially volleyball and fishing. He loved animals, particularly cats.
A private celebration of his life will be held later at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
