Alfred Ernest Coleman, a proud native of Youngstown, Ohio, born on July 4, 1934, departed this life on April 25, 2024. He was the cherished son of John and Madeline (Murray) Coleman.
Enlisting in the Navy at the tender age of 17, Alfred bravely served his country during the Korean War, exemplifying courage and honor.
Beyond his military service, Alfred had a passion for life. He found joy in playing the lottery, cheering on his favorite sports teams, and spreading laughter with his quick wit. Yet, his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he adored and nurtured as if they were his own.
A dedicated member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union, Alfred was renowned for his generosity in sharing donuts, always bringing smiles wherever he went, echoing the famous catchphrase, "Time to make the donuts."
Alfred was the youngest and last surviving sibling of nine. Preceded in death by his parents, his son, John Coleman, one brother, John Coleman Jr., and seven sisters: Mary Woods, Julia Butler, Virginia White, Evelyn Williams, Betty Coleman, Emma Jones and Ruby Ward.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Julianne Coleman, Amanda Coleman, and Domenic Coleman, along with his loving partner, Susan Finnell. His cherished grandchildren: Melyssa, William, Darryl, Rachel, Timothy, Andrew, Josiah, Olivia, Elijah, and Kyro. Great Grandchildren: Owain, Morgan, Brody, Olivia, Lucas, Vukon and Cruz. And a host of nieces and nephews.
Alfred's legacy of love, jokes, laughter, and kindness will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Family and friends are invited to join us at South Coast Funeral Home, 1555 Pleasant St. Fall River, MA. Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 8, 2024 from 9:30 am - 11:30 am. Services begin at 11:30 am, followed by procession to National Cemetery Bourne, Connery Ave. Buzzard Bay, MA 02542.
