A. Diane (Hannigan) Moran, age 85, of Brockton, MA died on Friday, April 26, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert G. Moran for 60 years.
Diane was born to Joseph C. Hannigan and Agnes (McDade) Hannigan and was raised in the U.S. territory of the Panama Canal Zone. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a bachelor’s degree and received her master’s degree from Bridgewater State College. After teaching in Bridgewater for two years she spent 22 years teaching in the business department at Brockton High School. After retiring from the Brockton Public Schools, Diane assisted in administrative areas at Trinity Catholic Academy.
She served her parishes of St. Margaret’s and Our Lady of Lourdes in many ways: in the Eucharistic Ministry and the Ministry of Consolation, as a choir member and as a cantor. She enjoyed singing with the Jubilate Chorale and traveled with the Chorale to perform in Rome. One of Diane and Bob’s favorite things to do was travel. They visited much of the United States and twenty countries in Europe and Central America. Her most recent trip was to Alaska last summer. Diane’s most treasured moments were the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Diane was the mother of Robert G. Moran, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Douglas, MA; Joseph C. Moran and his wife Maureen of Leesburg, VA; James P. Moran of Taunton, MA; John A. Moran and his wife Pamala of Brockton, MA; Richard A. Moran of Rockland, MA. She was Grandma to 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Diane also leaves behind her sister-in-law Dorothy Hannigan of Safety Harbor, FL. Diane was pre-deceased by her sisters Dorothy Hannigan of Brockton, MA; Mary Ann Modoono and her husband Robert of Lexington, MA; Alice O’Regan and her husband Frank of Franklin, MA; Patrician Hannigan of Wilmington, DE and her twin brother Joseph C. Hannigan of Seminole, FL.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123), Brockton from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday May 7th, at 9:30am for a 10:30am funeral mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 433 West St, Brockton. A committal service will take place at 1:15pm at the Massachusetts’ National Cemetery, Bourne, where she will be buried with her husband.
