Obituary

David (Dave) Edward Goguen, age 68, passed away on April 23, 2024 after a long illness. Dave was born on July 24,1955 to the late Joseph Russell Goguen of Quincy, MA and the late Cecile Ruth (Dubois) Goguen of Lawrence, MA.

Dave’s early life was marked by attendance at St. Joseph’s Grammar School in Quincy and the Quincy Public Schools. He spent many hours at Avalon Beach every summer with his extended family of aunts, uncles and many cousins. Dave along with his brothers and cousins worked tirelessly every summer to end each year as city-wide swimming champions. From those early days, Dave began a long career in the construction industry, first working for many years at the General Dynamics Shipyard in Quincy Point and finishing his work life as part of Local 88 Tunnel Workers Union. As a proud member of Local 88, Dave spent over 10 years working to complete the tunnel between the Boston Waterfront and Logan Airport.

During Dave’s working years he spent many nights as a valuable outfielder and strong hitter with the Quincy Point Neighborhood Softball Team. A life-long Patriots fan, Dave stood by the team in the 70’s and continued cheering them on at family gatherings every season since. Since retiring, Dave, who has always been an avid NASCAR fan, traveled to the NASCAR Races in New Hampshire for a “brothers’ weekend” every year.

Dave was a loving husband to his wife Laurie (Sarno) Goguen who predeceased him in 1994, a loving father to his late daughter, Amy Goguen and a loving brother to his late sister Mary Goguen who was very devoted to him. He was also sadly predeceased by his long-time partner, Joanne Bush.

Dave’s legacy extends to his two caring daughters, AnnieLee Goguen and Jacqueline Goguen and a son Matthew Goguen. He will be sorely missed and remembered fondly for his great sense of humor by his many brothers and sisters; Joseph Goguen, Andrew and Doreen (Goguen) Rose, Michael and AnnMarie (Goguen) Brusin, Lawrence Goguen, Stephen Goguen, Margaret Goguen, Joanne Goguen, Carol Bowness and her partner Michael Schubert, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and a grand-nephew.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Quincy MA on May 6, 2024 at 10:00 am, followed by a gravesite prayer at Pine Hill Cemetery, Willard Street, Quincy, MA.
