Lucille M. (Battaglia) Fallavollita of Westwood, MA and York Beach, ME died April 29, 2024. Lucy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Roberto (Bob) to whom she was married 70 years before his passing. The daughter of Italian immigrants Salvatore and Francesca (Fisichella) Battaglia, she was born at home and raised in Boston’s West End along with her 6 siblings.
In her early years, Lucy worked for AT&T before leaving to raise her sons. She accepted a job at Polaroid Corp. in the early 1970s to help support her family when Bob was out of work due to a strike at Boston Edison. She retired after 17 years. A dedicated gardener and passionate cook, Lucy enjoyed preparing traditional Italian foods and experimenting with new ingredients and recipes from around the world. Whether hungry or not, anyone sitting at her kitchen table could expect to be served something delicious. She had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and was endlessly busy, driven by a sharp mind in perpetual motion. Lucy loved numbers, finance and money, was consumed with bargain hunting, and was known to haggle over the price of anything with anyone.
Lucy and Bob worked tirelessly while scrimping and saving to achieve their dream of building a summer home in York Beach, ME where they enjoyed many wonderful summers in the good company of friends and family. Visits from their grandchildren provided countless treasured moments.
Lucy leaves her loyal and dedicated sons, their wives and children: Robert and Susan of South Windsor, Connecticut, and their children Kathryn (Tim) and Christine Fallavollita; Paul and Susan of Medway, Massachusetts, and their children Domenic and Maria Fallavollita; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved brother Gaetano “Guy” Battaglia, sisters and their husbands Josephine "Jay" Condelli (Joe), Helen Gallagher (Jack), Concetta “Connie” Evangelista (Ralph), Frances “Frannie” Papazian (Allen), Jean DiNunzio.
Lucy and Bob were blessed through the help and support received during their final years from nieces, nephews and friends in ways too numerous to mention. For each and every act of kindness, we are very grateful.
Our family would like to thank Avril Jackson-Black, N.P. of Pinnacle Healthcare Services for the outstanding medical care provided to both our parents at home; Lina Benoit, RN, Nicole Perry, RN and Tanya Cameron, Clinical Director; Mackenzie Palma, RN of Caretenders VNA, and Rev. C. Raymond Selker, OFM for his support and spiritual guidance; Francine for her many years of kindness and loving care of both our parents during their final years at home; compassionate caregivers Nena, Susan R, and those from ComForCare (Canton). Collectively, they helped us fulfill our parents’ wish to spend their final days in their home of 67 years.
Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Thursday, May 2 from 4-7pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, May 3 at 9:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Margaret Mary Church, Westwood at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford
