Carl James Sheppard, Sr. of Medway died on April 27th at the age of 88 years old. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada on August 21, 1935, Carl was son of the late James H. and Josita (Boudreau) Sheppard. Carl was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, where he proudly joined at just 17 years old.
Carl was the husband of the late Flora J. (McDonald) Sheppard for 53 years until her death in 2012. He moved to the United States with Flora and their oldest son Carl Sheppard Jr. in 1962 where they lived in Jamaica Plain. He and his family moved to Medway in 1969 where he had lived ever since.
Carl was a devoted and generous husband, father, grandfather and brother. Together, Carl and Flora dedicated their entire lives to their family, finding joy in caring for and loving their children and many grandchildren. He and Flora enjoyed their annual vacations to Glace Bay where they and their children spent summers with siblings and extended family.
He is survived by his children, Carl Sheppard, Jr. and his late wife NancyLee of Medway, Barbara Hutt and her late husband Charlie of Medway, Cathy Rigney of Medway, Tina Sheppard of Medway and her husband Christopher, and Eric Sheppard and his wife Debbie of Millis.
He is also survived by his siblings, Sharon Ledger and her husband Joseph of Ontario, Barbara Patterson and her late husband Robert of Nova Scotia, Gerald Sheppard and his wife Dolores of Plainville, George Sheppard and his wife Roberta of Nova Scotia, Robert Sheppard and his wife Gail of Nova Scotia.
He was the brother of the late James Sheppard.
Carl is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie, Stacey, Jenny, C.J., Sarah, Gillian, Kayla, Deanna and Samantha and his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Ryan, Maeve, Kathryn, George, James and NoraLee.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 2 at the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com), 3 Barber Street, Medway from 11:00-12:00. This will be immediately followed by funeral services (12:00-1:00) at the same location. Burial to be held at the Evergreen Cemetery, Medway immediately after funeral services.
