Obituary

WORCESTER____Helen A (Galkowski) Majewski 88 of 6 Alpine St., died August 21 in Providence Extended Care Center.Her husband of fifty nine years Chester Majewski died in 1999. She is survived by a son Chester S Majewski of Shrewsbury,a daughter Bernadine A McLaughlin of Puarto Valarta Mexico and a brother Dr. Theodore T Galkowski of Yarmouth Mass. Three brothers Henry S Galkowski Joseph Balkowski, and Charles Galkowski all of Worcester and Eugene Galkowski of Fall River. A sister Phyllis S Brosnan of Worcester all pre deceased her. She also leaves four grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Mrs. Majewski was born in Worcester a daughter of Stanislaw and Franciszka (Borowski) Galkowski and lived here all of her life. A graduate of the former Classical High School, she later graduated from then Becker Junior College.Mrs. Majewski worked for twenty years as the Cook-Manager of the Cafeteria of Saint Mary's Elementary School, retiring in 1986.Mrs. Majewski was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, The Fallon Volunteers,The RSVP Volunteers and was Past President of The Polish American Veterans of World War II, Womans Auxiliary.The funeral will be held Friday August 23 from The Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home,33 Ward St., with a Mass at 10:30 in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward St. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery.Calling hours at the funeral home are from 6 to 8 pm Thursday August 22.The family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations be made instead to The Memorial Fund of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church 34 Ward Street Worcester mass. 01610.
